Your phone’s files. On your Mac.
Plug in your Android phone and browse it like a folder. Drag photos and videos to your Mac, or drag files back. Built natively for Apple silicon and Intel.
Everything you need. Nothing you don’t.
Yaaft does one job: move files between your Mac and your Android phone over a USB cable.
Native.
A universal app written in Swift. It runs at full speed on Apple silicon and Intel, with no Rosetta and no third-party libraries.
Private.
Yaaft has no network access at all. Your files go straight from the phone to your disk, and nothing about them leaves your Mac.
Drag and drop
Both ways, folders included. Drop onto a folder to copy straight into it.
Big files
Videos over 4 GB copy in one piece.
Opens when you plug in
If you want it to. Off until you turn it on.
Every storage
Internal storage, SD cards, and more than one phone at a time.
Never grabs your phone
No background agent. If another app has the phone, Yaaft tells you which one.
No Mac clutter
.DS_Store and other hidden Mac files stay off your phone.
20 languages
Including 简体中文, 日本語 and Deutsch.
Measured
Copying from a Pixel 7a over USB.
Built for the long run.
Google’s Android File Transfer is an Intel app last built in 2018. On Apple silicon it only runs through Rosetta, and macOS 27 is the last release with full Rosetta support. Yaaft does the same job, natively.

Yaaft for Mac Coming soon
Yaaft is in final testing. Check back here for the first release.
Requires macOS 13 Ventura or later on an Apple silicon or Intel Mac, and an Android phone with File transfer.
Questions.
My phone isn’t showing up.
Unlock the phone, pull down the notifications, tap the USB notification and choose File transfer. Many phones only charge until you do.
If it still doesn’t appear, try another cable. Charge-only cables don’t carry data.
Yaaft says another app is using my phone.
macOS lets only one app talk to a USB device at a time. Yaaft names the app that has the phone and can quit it for you.
Google’s Android File Transfer installs a background agent that takes the phone as soon as it’s plugged in. To stop it, remove Android File Transfer Agent in System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions.
Do I need to install anything on the phone?
No. Yaaft uses MTP, the File transfer mode built into Android.
Which Macs does it run on?
Any Mac with macOS 13 Ventura or later. Yaaft is a universal app, so it runs natively on both Apple silicon and Intel.
Which phones work?
Any Android phone that offers File transfer over USB. Yaaft is tested with Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy phones. Other MTP devices work too.
Can Yaaft open when I plug in my phone?
Yes. Choose Open When a Device Is Connected in the Yaaft menu. It’s off by default, and nothing stays running in the background: macOS starts Yaaft only when a phone appears.
